01 Origin & Purpose

The Foundation at JOOUST

NexGen was established at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) by co-founders Kevin Nambale and Derrick Muruoki.

Frustrated by the disconnect between conventional lecture theory and the rigorous realities of production computing, the founders launched NexGen as a hands-on engineering incubator. Its foundational work established two core technical pillars: Networking & Protocol Infrastructure and Software Systems Engineering.

02 Succession & Leadership Delegation

Technical Succession & Executive Expansion

Prior to completing their degrees, Kevin and Derrick established a succession model prioritizing demonstrated capability over academic seniority. They delegated stewardship of the collective to Fidel Eliud as Chairperson.

Under Fidel's leadership, NexGen formalized specialized engineering tracks led by appointed domain directors: Matthew Magundo directing Cyber Security research, Benard Karanja heading API & Distributed Systems Architecture, and Victor Owino leading Fullstack & Reactive UI Platforms.
